Meet Us: Steven Hackney


This year, we are delighted to have Steven Hackney join our team at Artisan Foodworks. Sam's nephew has been learning the catering ropes from Chef Alexa and assisting her in the kitchen. He's probably helped make your food. At events, customers have raved about his service.

When he's not catering or making marshmallows, Steven can be found playing competitive darts and writing music. He is trained in classical guitar building and brings his artistic eye to presenting foods. He's really looking forward to going to distilling school to learn how to make vodka. 

Steven's favorite dish of Chef Alexa's is beef tenderloin with wild mushroom cream sauce. His favorite marshmallows are the spicy ones like Ghost Pepper. 

Featured Event: Deb and Tammy's wedding

We were honored to help Deb and Tammy celebrate their marriage last weekend.


After 20 years together, the couple was finally able to wed in Indiana. They had a beautiful, fun ceremony and reception at the Barn at Kennedy Farm.


One interesting (and very cool) thing Deb and Tammy did was to have their appetizers and cocktails before the ceremony. It created a relaxed atmosphere. 


The couple chose items from the Fire Kissed Menu. Here's what they fed their friends and family.

Korean barbecue short ribs
Tasty beef short ribs marinated in Asian pear teriyaki and grilled over charcoal.
Carved sirloin
Smoked and then grilled to medium-rare tri-tip. Served with handmade sauces (horseradish, whiskey-onion jam, and boozy cherry barbecue).
Upgrade to beef tenderloin: 10.00 each guest.
Cajun jambalaya
Shrimp, crawfish, chicken, and spicy sausage with rice, onions, and sweet peppers served in our giant pan. 
Whole roasted leg of lamb
Rubbed with parsley and lemon. Served with Mediterranean sauces on the side.
Whole local pig
Smoked over charcoal and hickory for at least 18 hours. Served with house-cured pickles and our handmade barbecue sauces (classic sweet, Carolina mustard, and boozy cherry).
Classic porchetta
Local pork loin wrapped in crispy pork belly and served with assorted sauces.
Grilled porkloin
Slow roasted and carved. Served with a peach Sriracha sauce and a vanilla whiskey sauce on the side.
Grilled chicken breasts
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts grilled on-site over charcoal. Served with sriracha-honey glaze, Burton’s maple and stone-ground mustard, and handmade barbecue sauces on the side.

Salmon filets brined in Burton’s Maplewood Farms syrup with mustard caviar

Saffron rice with peas, sweet peppers, zucchini, onions, tomatoes, eggplant, green olives, parsley, preserved lemons, and carrots cooked in our giant pans.
